HideTapes.com is a project I’ve been thinking about for a couple years. It wasn’t until the COVID-19 quarantine that I really started thinking about how to implement and execute ideas I had for this project, the first being this website.
This project really got sparked from relating deeply to the characters in the film ‘High Fidelity’ (originally a book, now a TV series). The film did a great job presenting how deeply personal and connective a mix tape could be; a very subtle art even – “You’re using someone else’s poetry to express how you feel. This is a very delicate thing“. Examining Thurston Moore’s ‘Mix Tape: The Art of Cassette Culture’ only solidified those feelings and demonstrated how expressive the medium can be.
I look forward to sharing and executing the ideas I have for this project and connecting with others as a result – stay tuned.

Before I found HIDETAPES.com I was but an empty shell.
Wandering the empty streets of my hometown that was ravaged by covid.
But now, I am an empty shell with some sick mixtapes.
Thank you HIDETAPES.com for turning my life around.
